  • Challenger Series 2 Motion-Card Alarm : error 1201.

Hello everyone. I have in use Challenger Series ll 12 color , bought new about 2 years ago. All the time works very fine. But yesterday when I power on machine it is coming out the messange:

    " Servo Battery Low,
    Index Servo Not Home,
    Index Reverse-Limit Switch “ .

I found the battery that is located in MR J2S module and tested it and it shows 0.15v , I have bought the new battery and changed it >>Fixed Error : Servo Battery Low .

Problems with "Servo Not home" and "Index Reverse Limit Switch" - Fixed by manually set the servo at the home position + some calibrating in panel .

After this manipulations the machine works But if i get power off for about 3-5 min when I power on , machine coming out the messange : "Motion-Card Alarm", And the module QD75M1 blinks by 2 leds(Err + AX1) , in the test menu i found error : error 1201 .

If i press the resset buttonn on the panel the errors dissapear and QD75M1 leds too disappear, but the servo remeanin in wrong position and not go to home pos.

If i set manually the home position the machine will work until the next shutdown. I see that when i power on machine the Servo not moves to Home Position , if i not set the position manually by moving the servo to approx home point(the VR Sensor light will turn on) and will repeat the turn off/turn on oeration for 3-4 times the servo will move +2cm every time(one power on operation = +2cm) and this will continue each time power on operation until it reaches the limiter Switch. Help please where is problem ???? The battery in PLC(show 2.99v) and Panel(3.01v) is fine?

P.S I replaced the battery with the machine fully turned on.
But before that the machine was disconnected from the mains for 2-3 weeks, and perhaps during this time the battery in MR J2S was discharged, Is it possible that the program is lost?
If the program is lost , why does the machine work without problems if I set the Servo Home Position manually?

    P.S Sorry for my English.

Where did you get the battery from? It “has” to be a Mitsubishi battery. Hopefully your not removing or unplugging batteries at random. If you unplug the PLC battery, you could lose the program and then the press is down for sure…..
If you get a full shift with no issue and then has problems the following morning. It is an indicator that the servo battery is not functioning properly.

It is losing home position because the battery is not holding the data. Please refer to your manual when replacing batteries for the correct procedure. For further instruction call our service department / US 800-483-8765 / (Outside USA) +1-847-967-4461

Error 1201 is an encoder related issue (servo motor). Without the serial number of the press we'’re guessing the password. Go to service data enter 1969 password. What’s servo position value (position 2) and what is reverse position value (position 1)? Once homed, and after power up in the morning? It should retain those numbers if the battery is good in the servo. The servo battery and PLC battery have date codes etched into the side of the battery. Without unplugging the battery, what are the codes on each battery? Do they have 4 “D” size battery box for servo home position?
Call our service department for further instruction and have the serial number available / US 800-483-8765 / (Outside USA) +1-847-967-4461

        Hi everyone!!
The problem was solved after that I reset the home pos in the service data menu (password 248). Immediately after that the error 1201 disappeared. Now the machine works fine! When i get the machine power on, the servo returns to 0 home pos.

        P.S

Yes i have used the user manual for replacing batteryes !

I already ordered the original battery, which I found in your store:

        This is for the servo:

        https://www.mrprint.com/store/produc...o-plc-a-series

        This is for the PLC:

        https://www.mrprint.com/store/produc...uc-b-amplifier

But the battery that I found in my local store and temporarily installed in servo is not original . Because delivery from your store to my country will take some time.

This is a temporary solution ! When original battery will delivered , i will install it immediately.
